Chola power station was a 1320 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station which has been proposed by Tata Power to be built near Chola, Bulandshahar district in Uttar Pradesh.

Location
The project was proposed for Chola in Bulandshahar district, Uttar Pradesh. The map below shows the location of Chola but not the exact location of the project.
Background
In 2006 Tata proposed that the power station initially be 1000 MW but with capacity to expand to double that. Tata proposed that the station supply power to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation and North Delhi Power Company (NDPL).[1]
Tata Power reported that in early 2006 it had secured coal supply for the proposed project. It stated that "this mega power plant will also supply power to Northern States including NDPL."[2]
Project Abandoned
As of mid-2014, the project appeared to have been abandoned since there was no mention of it on the Tata Power website and no applications had been filed for environmental permits.[3]
