The Coal21 Fund was established by the Australian Coal Association in 2006 via a a voluntary levy on the coal produced by the coal industry. The industry states that "the aim of the COAL21 Fund is to demonstrate the technical and economic viability of low-emissions coal technology, leading to demonstration at industrial-scale from 2015, and commercial deployment availability from 2020."[1]
