Dawson South (stage 2) is a proposed expansion of the Dawson mine. The project proposed by Anglo Coal Australia/Mitsui. The project is located 15 km NW of Theodore at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland.

An Environmental Impact Statement is currently being prepared for the expansion. The project will produce 5–7 million tonnes per annum of thermal coal.[1]
