The Frenstat coal mine is in the Beskydy Mountains in the Czech Republic. It is operated by OKD, which estimates that the mine has coal reserves of 78 million tons. Mining began there in 1988.[1]
On May 27, 2012, twelve Greenpeace activists climbed up the two mining towers of the mine to protest the country's continued fossil fuels mining.[2]
