Background

Gulf LNG is owned by Gulf LNG Energy, LLC (GLE). The terminal includes a 5-mile sendout pipeline. The terminal become operable in 2011. In 2015 Gulf LNG applied to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to become an export facility. The estimated cost for this project is $8 billion.

Gulf LNG currently consists of a single dock facility that is permitted to "receive up to 170,000 cubic meter LNG vessels and designed to handle vessels with capacities of up to 250,000 cubic meters. As part of the proposed liquefaction and export project, the permitted limit would be increased to 208,000 cubic meters."

The Jackson County Port Authority commissioners' 2015 budget includes $2.5 million for maintenance dredging at the Gulf LNG site.

If the liquefaction and export project proceeds, the terminal would retain its current capacity to import, store, and deliver natural gas, therefore the Gulf LNG Terminal would be bi-directional.
