Hathneora captive power station is a 162.5-megawatt (MW) captive coal-fired power plant in Chhattisgarh, India. An additional 425 MW is proposed at the same location.

Location

The project is located on the site of the Prakesh Industries steel plant near Hathneora, in the Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh.

Background

Prakash Industries is a mining, steel, and power company. The steel plant at Hathneora village currently operates 199.5 MW of power capacity, including a 37 MW waste heat recovery cogenerator and a 162.5 MW captive coal-fired power plant. Prakash Industries has proposed setting up a new 500 MW (2×100 MW + 2×150 MW) captive power station at village Hathneora in Champa Taluk, next to the company's Integrated Steel Plant. Commissioning is planned for 2016-2019. A terms of reference was issued in 2011 and extended in 2014. An application for environmental clearance was submitted in January 2015.

As of June 2019 the project has yet to receive clearance toward construction.
