Background on Mine

The 33.8 million ton-per-annum Ib Valley Bandhabal coal mines are owned by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (a subsidiary of state-owned Coal India). The Bandhabal area consists of the following individual mines: Belpahar (3.5 MTPA), Lajkura (2.5 MTPA), Lakhanpur (15 MTPA), Lilari (0.8 MTPA), and Samleswari-I-IV (12 MTPA).

Expansions

MCL is currently developing the Belpahar-II expansion (4.5 MTPA).
