Jeffrey A. Nesbit has been director of the Office of Legislative and Public Affairs at the National Science Foundation since June 2006.[1]

- Head of communications for Citizens for a Sound Economy[3]
- Associate Commissioner for Public Affairs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for David A. Kessler[1];
- Director of Communications to former Vice President Dan Quayle at the White House[1];
- U.S. Senate press secretary[1]
- Special assistant for public affairs to Secretary of Labor Elizabeth Dole in 1989 [2]
- Washington journalist from 1981 to 1987, for Knight-Ridder [2]
- Reporter for newspapers in Virginia and South Carolina from 1980–1981[2]
He is also a novelist.[1]
