The Jharsuguda CPP power station is a 1215 megawatt (MW) plant which supplies power to Vedanta Aluminium's aluminum smelter. The power station is located near Bhurkamunda in Odisha, India.

Background

The original power station consisted of seven subcritical 135 MW coal-burning units commissioned in 2008. In 2011 a 270 MW expansion of the existing coal-fired power station was commissioned. The expansion, which comprised two 135 MW units, is referred to as Jharsuguda CPP Units 8 & 9. The plant is owned and operated by Vedanta Resources.

China's SEPCOIII was involved in engineering and construction of the plant.
