Displacement

According to the Environmental Clearance for the Units 1 and 2, the plant and the dam for the plant will result in "1045 homestead oustees and 6091 land oustees." Although no village is submerged by the dam reservoir, "the land of 26 villages comes partly or fully under submergence."[4]

Phase II

In addition to the phase I (1200 MW) project, RVUN has proposed an additional phase II (1320 MW) expansion, which received a terms of reference toward conducting an EIA in December 2013.[5]

A new terms of reference was issued in March 2016.[6]

As of May 2018 the project has not received environmental clearance, and plans appear shelved.
