Lianyungang IGCC with CO2 Capture Project

An Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle IGCC has been proposed for Lianyungang, a coastal city
200 kilometres north of the Subei oil field in China. The Natural Resources Defense Council reports that the proposed has been proposed to "eventually" be a 1200 megawatt plant with Carbon Capture and Storage. It is proposed that the captured carbon dioxide be used to increase the pressure in a declining oil field as a way of increasing the amount of oil recovered.[1] (This is referred in oil industry circles as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)).
The NRDC have also reported that the IGCC plant would be built in conjunction with a 1300 megawatt ultra-supercritical coal-fired plant.[2]
