{{#badges: CoalSwarm|Navbar-Polandandcoal}}Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka S.A. is a Polish company which owns and operates the Bogdanka coal mine, a major thermal coal mine.

Background

In 2011 the mine produced approximately 5.8 million tonnes of coal.[1]

Coal from the mine is supplied to the Kozienice Power Plant under a long term agreement[2] to other industrial customers including cement producers.[1] In its August 2012 half year report Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka stated that "over 74% of coal sales" in terms of value for the six months to June 2012 were to four power companies under long trm agreements: Elektrownia Kozienice S.A., GDF Suez Energia S.A., Elektrownia Ostrołęka S.A. and Grupa Ozarow.[3]

In 2010 Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka entered into an agreement that from 2016 it would supply the proposed 1000 megawatt Ostroleka C power station, an expansion of the existing Ostroleka power station. Platts reported that "Bogdanka said it may terminate the contract if financing and a design, order and construction contract for the new unit have not been secured by the end of June 2012."[4]
