Mark S. Irion

Irion is Chief Executive Officer of Dutko Worldwide.[1] Hammond is part of a lobbying team hired by Americans for Affordable Climate Policy, a front group created in 2008 by "coal-dependent electric companies" including Ameren, Duke Energy, Southern Company, Dominion, and American Electric Power. [2] The group is lobbying against proposals that carbon-intensive industries be required to by carbon credits at auction.[2] Other lobbyists on the account are Andy Wright and Tracy Hammond. The group has also hired Hunton & Williams.[3]

A biographical note on Dutko Worldwide's website states that Hammond "Mark has led the team of managing principals at Dutko since 1996". It states that he "began his political career in the mid 1980’s with Senator Alan Dixon (D-IL) where he served as a legislative assistant for energy and environmental issues, and worked extensively on the reauthorization of the Clean Air Act and other environmental legislation. After joining Dutko Worldwide, Mark helped build and managed Dutko’s Energy and Environment practice, which remains a significant core practice area of the firm. Mark has devoted time and served in leadership roles on the Democratic Leadership Council, the New Democrat Network, and the Third Way--and continues to work with individual political leaders that share a dedication to the politics of community, opportunity and personal responsibility. Mark has a degree in Theology from St. John’s University, and an M.A. in Public Affairs from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. He’s married to Mary Stuart Irion (formerly McCamy), and they are raising four amazing young children.."[1]
