Background
The pipeline project is expected to cost 99 billion baht ($2.8 billion) and will be completed by 2020.[1] Rayong is the receiving port for Thailand’s LNG imports and is located adjacent to the country’s only regasification plant.[2] In June 2017 it was reported that JFE Steel had received an order for 230,000 metric tons of pipes for building the pipeline.[3] In August 2017 the project was included in TRE Construction's overview of current projects.[4]
As of September 2019 there has been no apparent progress on the project in two years, and it appears to be shelved. It is possible that plans to build it have been replaced by plans to build the Chachoengsao-Nonthaburi Gas Pipeline, which has more recently been described as the Fifth Transmission Project - Phase 2
