U.S. Green Building Council
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) "is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that, by its own description, "is working to make green buildings available to everyone within a generation."[1]
The U.S. Green Building Council developed the LEED system, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, an internationally-recognized green building certification system. LEED measures and grades construction on elements like sustainable building sites, water and energy use efficiency, use of sustainable materials and resources, and indoor air quality.[2]
