The American Coal Council (ACC) is a peak industry association which describes its role as "advancing the development and utilization of American coal as an economic, abundant/secure and environmentally sound energy fuel source" and as a "resource for companies that mine, sell, trade, transport or consume coal."[1]
The ACC was originally formed as the Western Coal Export Council in 1982 and renamed as the Western Coal Council in 1986.[1] The American Coal Council name was adopted in 2002.[2]
