Background on Plant

In January 2011 Birla Energy signed an MoU with government of Gujarat during Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Meet for the 1320 MW Birla Jamnagar power station. In December 2011, the project received a Terms of Reference from the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

As of March 2015 there has been no further progress on the project, and it appears to be shelved or abandoned.
