Background

The 933-mile Platte Pipeline transports up to 164,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil from Casper, Wyoming, to Guernsey, Wyoming, and 145,000 bpd from Guernsey to Wood River, Illinois. The pipeline brings crude oil predominantly from the Bakken, the Denver-Julesburg Basin and the Powder River Basin to Midwest refineries in Colorado, Kansas and Illinois.

It connects with the Express Oil Pipeline System and the Jayhawk Oil Pipeline at Holdrege, Nebraska, and with the Pony Express Oil Pipeline at Guernsey, Wyoming. It was acquired by Spectra Energy of Enbridge in 2012.
