QCoal describes itself as a "privately owned company focused on coal exploration and mining."[1]

Coal Projects

In its April 2010 listing of major mineral development project, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics lists QCoal's projects under consideration as being the:[2]

  • Byerwen Coal Project is a project proposed by QCoal / JFE Steel Corporation. The project is located 100 km south of Collinsville. A feasibility study on the project is currently being undertaken, The notional commissioning date of the project is 2012. The project would produce 10 million tonnes of coal a year; and
  • Drake Coal Project which is located 17 km south of Collinsville. An Environmental Impact Statement is currently being prepared for the project. The project, which has a commissioning date of 2012, is projected to produce 6 million tonnes of coal per annum.
