Background

In January 2013, a consortium led by Engie (formerly GDF Suez) applied to build a two-unit, 1,320-MW coal-fired power plant near the village of Gölovası, in Adana province in southern Turkey. The plant is also referred to as Adana ili, Yumurtalık İlçesi, Gölovası, and Ada Enerji Santralı.[1][2][3]

As of October 2015, French public utility company Engie has announced withdrawal from its Ada Coal Power Plant project in Yumurtalik, Turkey, as a result of civil society mobilization in France and Turkey.[4]
