Background

In January 2013, a consortium led by Engie (formerly GDF Suez) applied to build a two-unit, 1,320-MW coal-fired power plant near the village of Gölovası, in Adana province in southern Turkey. The plant is also referred to as Adana ili, Yumurtalık İlçesi, Gölovası, and Ada Enerji Santralı.

As of October 2015, French public utility company Engie has announced withdrawal from its Ada Coal Power Plant project in Yumurtalik, Turkey, as a result of civil society mobilization in France and Turkey.
