The European Coal Combustion Products Association (ECOBA) states that waste from coal-fired power stations "to be valuable raw and construction materials which can be utilized in various environmentally compatible ways. It is the task of ECOBA to propagate this message especially amongst legislative and standardising institutions and to communicate the economic and ecological benefits of CCP utilisation."[1]

ECOBA is a signatory to the charter of the Worldwide Coal Combustion Products Network which was formed in 1999 to "promote, coordinate and inform the public, industry and governmental entities about the beneficial environmental, technical and commercial uses of coal combustion products (CCPs).[1]
