Bandırma Elektrik power station is a proposed 1,600-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Balıkesir province, Turkey. This plant is a proposal of Nurol Enerji.

This proposal should not be confused with the 1,200-MW Bandırma Karat power station.

Background on Plant

In September 2013, Nurol Enerji began the environmental permitting process to build a two-unit, 1,600-MW, $1.6 billion coal-fired power plant in Turkey's Balıkesir province.

Nurol Enerji Üretim ve Pazarlama A.Ş. shelved the proposed project in 2015. The plant is now being pursued by Bahçepınar Enerji Üretim ve İnşaat A.Ş., starting the permitting process over.

However, the EIA process was cancelled in January 2016.
